The Carter High School Marching Hornet Band

The Carter High Band Program is made up of numerous different ensembles, the Marching Band, a 180 member marching ensemble, the 67-member competitive marching band, the 50 member Wind Ensemble, the 100 member Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and a 40 member Freshman Concert Band. These groups are under the direction of Mr. Matthew McCurry, assisted by Mr. Kevin Ross Mr. Chuck Brock and Angie Messer. In the past eight years the band has seen incredible growth from a band of thirty-five playing members to an anticipated two hundred-fifteen member marching ensemble in the fall. The award winning band program consistently receives top ratings at marching and concert festivals and contests and produces students that regularly place in the All-East and All-State bands. The Band has performed numerous times in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, The Nokia Sugar Bowl, The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade and was the winner of the Daytona 500 Music Festival. The band made its first international appearance in the 2010 Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Day Parade in London, England.

Announcements CHS Football Band Earns Superior at CompetitionCongratulations to the members of the Carter High School Field Band on earning a SUPERIOR rating at the Seymour Foothills Classic on October 1. This was the first competition of the season for this group. Keep up the great work!

Grand Champion Band - Class A/AA First Place Band in Class AA First Place Percussion (AA) First Place Drum Major (AA)  CHS Students get visit from Indian Artist, Sandip BurmanA small group of students attended a Master Class with Indian Artist, Sandip Burman. Sandip Burman is a world-reknown musician in high demand for concerts and musical engagements. Sandip engaged the students with his virtuostic ability on the Sitar and then again on the tabla. The students were amazed at the ability and introduced to a new type of music.
 Competitive Band wins ClassCongratulations to the Competitive Band in their first competition ever. At the Karns Marching Invitational, the Competitive Band won first place percussion, first place drum major, and first place colorguard as well as first place band in class AA. Great work!
